Ophelia was a strong young woman with many bumps in her road. She has been through something’s that no women should go through. I didn’t only see her as a girl my son dated, but as a friend. Friends go through ups and down, and we have been through many ups and downs. Toward the end of her beautiful life Ophelia became mad. She was talking to walls and spirits that weren’t even there. She was singing ludicrous songs and passages. Everyone could see what was going on with her but no one wanted to admit it.
But in retrospect was it us who were really insane. I mean my son did kill her father. And were going through one of the toughest times in Denmark’s history. Maybe for Ophelia this was her escape, her sort of way out. It was selfish of me to interfere with her madness. She was my friend and I didn’t want to see her suffer any more. So down by the river I had a choice to make, Should I let a dear friend suffer or should I take her away from her pain. I KILLED OPHELLIA. But not out of spite or lust or hatred but because I loved she and I didn’t want her to suffer anymore.
Wow! Marcell - I love this! It was a creative approach, and showed your analysis of the scene and characters! Well done!
